Here is a little more to muddle around with.I found in the 1880 Census the following: Eugenia DUNN Age:30 Estimated birth year:<1850> Birthplace:Alabama Occupation:Keeping House Relation:Wife Home in 1880:Precinct 7, Fannin, Texas Marital status:Married Race:White Gender:Female Head of household:James DUNN Father's birthplace:NC Mother's birthplace:NC Place: Precinct 7, Fannin, Texas; Enumeration District: 30; Roll: T9_1303; Family History Film: 1255303; Page: 516B;
If this is the same Eugenia Dunn that married Samuel Burton Lusk, it might help a bit.
Since Berta Lusk was allegedly born in February 1880 perhaps she was really the child of James Dunn and there was not an official adoption or change of name.Although she should be listed on the 1880 census and she is not.
The 1880 census shows the following: Samuel B. LUSK Age:46 Estimated birth year:<1834> Birthplace:Tennessee Occupation:Farmer Relation:Other Home in 1880:Precinct 3, Denton, Texas Marital status:Single Race:White Gender:Male Head of household:Timothy C. ROBINSON Living as boarder.No family members present. Father's birthplace:TN Mother's birthplace:TN Census Place: Precinct 3, Denton, Texas; Enumeration District: 105 Roll: T9_1300; Family History Film: 1255300; Page: 119A;
