You have the correct James McCarty and his wife, Nancy Lusk, but they were not the parents of Malinda McCarty who married Skyler King.James and Nancy were my greatgreatgrandparents and had the following four children who lived to be adults: A) Elizabeth McCarty b. Apr 1803, Jessamine co KY, d. 1865 New Albany, Floyd co IN m. 1) her cousin, William T. McMurtry on 15 Apr 1822 in Hardin co KY, m 2) William Hamilton Smith on 16 Apr 1833 in Hardin co KY and m 3)George Stevenson on 5 Oct 1843 in New Albany, Floyd co IN.She had one child with each husband and was widowed three times. B) Mary Rose McCarty, b. 9 Apr 1805, Harrison co IN d. 26 Jan 1893, Meade co KY, m. Benjamin Lewis Withers, 13 Sep 1827, Meade co KY.Mary Rose had seven sons. C) Warner Washington McCarty, b. 31 Jan 1811, Hardin co KY, d. 5 Aug 1895, Meade co KY, never married. D)my greatgreatgrandfather, James Warder McCarty b. 10 Feb 1817 Hardin co KY d. 27 Sep 1892, Henderson co KY, m 1) his double first cousin, Vizona Nevitt Lusk, had two sons who lived to be adults and marry, one was my greatgrandfather, and a daughter who did not survive childhood; m 2) Margaret E. (Kendall) Algood, had 5 children only two lived to be adults and marry;m 3)Drusilla (Kendall) Miller, no children. This McCarty family beginning with James McCarty's grandfather, James; his father, Thomas, and Thomas brother Cornelius McCarty, and their two sisters, was extensively written about and published in the William and Mary Quarterly in 1912, 1914 and 1921 by a McCarty descendant of Cornelius, Professor Arthur Leslie Keith.I have also thoroughly searched the records in Fairfax co, Prince William co, Fauquier co and Loudon co VA and have copies of every document from those counties the documents re Thomas and Cornelius and their sisters, Nancy McCarty Crook Adams and Betsy McCarty McConathy from Fayette, Jessamine, Harrison, Hardin and Meade counties in KY and Harrison co and Floyd co IN, and Vermillion co IL.There is NO female McCarty named Malinda among Cornelius' descendants either.I also have a great deal of family information from the daily journal of Dr. Thomas Clayton McCarty, brother of my greatgrandfather, James Clay McCarty.Dr. McCarty's journal starts on 1 Jan 1869 and goes through most of November 1915.I published it in 1986 with an everyname index.
