Wow, Cherri - you really have been studying this family.
I am from the Samuel - Susannah Stevenson line (we still haven't proved the link to William Lusk of Chester, but it seems sure we are descendants).
The reason I did the limited work I did on John C is that there is a big dispute over whose son he is -
Three possibilities: 1. son of Samuel (son of the first Sam) and Sarah Bailey - this is not too likely since John C always says he was born ~1798 and Sam and Sarah didn't marry until 1804, but it is possible.
2. son of David (son of the first Sam, brother of the 2nd) and Chloe Bailey. This is slightly more likely because (a) they were together from ~1797 (b) John C is closest to David on the 1820 census (c) John Compton was a neighbor of David's.This is unlikely because David and Chloe had another son, Eli/Elijah in about 1798 - so when was there time for John C??
3. son of William and Mary Neely - this is likely because of location location location. He always traveled with their people. (As far as that probate thing goes, when did Charles move to Augusta Co? Maybe he wasn't there to be an administrator???)
I am descended from the second Samuel and Sarah Bailey, from their (I think) oldest son Andrew - but everybody else says their oldest son was a John, so I was learning as much as I could about other Johns in the area - which has taken me pretty far afield!
As far as your family web-site - are you talking about the Lusk connection? If so, I do belong - you probably don't recognize my name - I am that irritating Lee person (Alethea is my real name).
