I am trying to clear up some mysteries around my William Luster & Frances Margaret (Maggie) Brandon. I have some great stories about her, and would love to compare notes and proof docs on the families.
I am related through Maggie Brandon, who is (the probable) sister to my ancestor John Adam Brandon, Charles L Brandon, Walter Wadsworth, Hugh Francis, Luther Benton Brandon, and more.
Many posters have our William Luster as having a first marriage to someone named Wright.
His second wife Maggie Brandon Luster had a sister in law named Elizabeth Wright.(Elizabeth Wright married her brother Charles L Brandon.) This Wright family was from Illinois before Missouri.
I have that our William Luster married Frances Margaret Brandon in 1853, and that she had 12 children, 7 of them living to adulthood. I don’t have a first marriage for him…
but if he did have a 1st marriage to a wright, that could be another connection that helps solidify the Brandon link.
I was trying to place all these families in time and places, and see how they may have met. It looks like most of them were from Tennessee, and may have had connections there. Also, if William was a blacksmith- well, everyone needed a blacksmith back then….
**In 1850 the Wrights and the Brandons were in Polk Co Missouri. In the 1850 census the Luster family was in Gasconade Co Missouri (within 100 miles close, but not next to each other.)
If the Lusters were previously in Carroll Co TN, that is very close to but once again not exactly the same as Roane Co TN where our branch of the Brandons was from.
Our William Luster wa said to be a Civil War vet.
Some posters have him as dying in 1864 Swan Taney Co MO. We have Brandons and Wrights in Swan Taney Co MO in 1850s & 60s, but our William was alive through 1900 census anyway.
Also, we dont know what side these folks fought on, and if their opinions differed- many of these families seemed to break up in the 1860s, so that could have been a factor in who went where and who stayed in touch and who didnt.
I would be glad to trade stories, info and proof docs.
