What I have NOT done: * No work in Canada * Trips to the WVU library (see below)
WhatI HAVE done: * 3 trips to the OH County Courthouse (you read how I was blocked. * 2 trips to the Marshall County Courthouse. * Letters, paid research, etc., to the WVU library. That's my orphan hint. The key may be in that Ohio Valley Courthouse "tomb" I have been unable to get to. Remember that earlier Marshall Co, records are there. * Trips to nearby WV county genealogy sites. * Internet visits to all paid & free sites up until year 2006. New data may have been posted since then.
There were other Lutz/Lutes/Loots contemporaries orphaned in the same time frame in Marshall/Ohio County. David was a few years older than those children.Older orphans were often "farmed out" as labor/apprentices.
I would say that I have not done enough. The other area of weakness is PA. PA is/was even tougher to research.
I know you have scoured the censuses & Internet sites. You have found many surnames (whatever spelling) matching that surname in early censuses in the Ohio/Marshall Co. area.I have not been been able to connect George Lutes/ Loots/ Lutz. There may be a connection. Brother?
Ignore the more recent censusLutz/Lutes/Loots in the census for now. There's no immediate connection to the earlier Marshall Co. Lutes family at this time. There may be a connection much earlier on PA, but David has to be solved 1st before that can be done.
