I posted my question to the Bath Co.,KY Mail List and never got a response so I'm hoping someone who reads this can help me. My direct Lynam ancestor is Elizabeth Lynam, wife of William Hornback. In trying to source out her siblings on the census records I came upon a problem I need help with.
George W. Lynam om the 1880 census for Bath Co., shows living with him his father and mother, Andrew and Jane. They are listed as Father and Mother. However, to source George back further on the census records there is no listing for him before 1880 with Andrew and Jane Lynam.
On the census records for 1850, 1860 and 1870 all of the other children are consistently listed with Jane and Andrew, EXCEPT for George.
On the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census records George W. Lynam born 1845 is ALWAYS listed with Foster and Polly Lynam.
If Andrew and Jane are his parents why is he always enumerated with Foster, if Foster and Polly are his parents why on the 1880 census doesn't it list Andrew and Jane as his Aunt and Uncle instead of Mother and Father?
Does anyone know for sure? I don't want to list the wrong child with the wrong parents. Thank you, Donna
