I never thought about other members of the family coming at the same time until I got your response.Thank you for that data.By going through the Roach listing, I found five Peter Roachs who immigrated between 1842 and 1865 from Ireland.I will list the one that I think applies below.I selected this Peter Roach, because of the following reasons - one was 12 years old in 1852, one was 57 and did not immigrate until 1856, one was 65 when he immigrated in 1854, and the remaining Peter Roach was 7 when he imigrated in 1857.From the records in Wilkinson County, Georgia - Peter Roach and Mary Lyster were married 1/12/1849.
I was able to find 3 other Roachs who were on the same ship as Peter, and who had the same identical manifest ID number. If I interpreted this data correctly, 3 males and one female in the same family came to the US on the same ship in 1846.Here is the information:
All four were on the Lord Ashburton which departed Liverpool and arrived in New York on July 2, 1846.Their manifest ID number was 1001.The names and ages are as follows:
Christopher34 John22 Mary25 Peter27
All four show an occupation of Servant.
I know that there is a Catholic Cemetery in Gordon, Georgia and that a number of Roachs are buried there. It is my understanding that when the church was closed there, the land of the church and cemetery were sold to someone in Gordon.I am attempting to find out what happened to the official Church records for this cemetery.
