Google books has the directory of members of Society of Colonial Wars in America, Dist. of Columbia Chapter, for 1897.One member has Jan Pieterse [Mebee, etc.] as his qualifying ancestor.Jan is said to have successfully defended his stone house, in Schenectady, during the 1690 raid by French and Indian warriors.I cannot find any comfirmation of this in online accts. of the raid.I have emailed the NY chap. of SCWA; as, the DC chapter has no web presence.I assume that records of evidences submitted by applicants might have been retained on file.
Anyone know of this story?Any SCWA members in the clan?
