Re: William Mable 1820 London
I am descended from Isaac and Elizabeth MABLE, married on 31 July 1791 at St. Saviour, Southwark in the presence of Alice MABLE. I have not got details of how she is related.
William MABLE son of the above was baptised on 10 August 1793 in Sawley, Derbyshire. I have confirmation of the baptism of three sisters called Hannah MABLE born 25 December 1810, Elizabeth MABLE born 17 February 1804 and Sarah MABLE born 23 December 1807. They were all baptised on 16 January 1811 at St. Mary Magdalane, Bermondsey, London. Their father was a Leather Dresser/Drefser? I have not yet found the other siblings mentioned by Peter Lucas, who were born around the English Midlands.
Hannah MABLE married William BARNARD on 25 September 1833 at St Bride, Fleet Street, London. William Mable (Sawley) had a son also called William, born approx 1821 (London). Birth details including mothers name to be confirmed, possibly a Mary WHITE. William (Sawley) is shown on the 1851 census living with Emilar(Emily)MABLE age 5 and Sarah PIVIOT widow age 45 born in Walworth, Surrey, she was his house servant. He married a Sarah born approx same time and in Walworth could the be the same? His wife Sarah died in 1862 age 60.
I have found five children for William (Sawley) so far. William, Charles (to be confirmed), Emily Anna b. 1837, d. 23 Jan 1843 at 1 Helmet Court, Strand of Scarlet Fever.
Also Emily MABLE born approx 1844-6, birth not found in BMD yet but mentioned in Census's as born in 1846. Mary Ann who's birth i have also not found yet but is mentioned in her fathers will under her married name of Haver or Hover.
William (b.1821)'s first wife was Louisa Simmonds. They were married on 24 May 1843. I have found five children for them so far. Louisa Emily b. 1844, d. 1848, William Charles b. 23 December 1845 Salisbury, Benjamin Isaac b. 1848 d.1912, Kate Esther b. 1850 d. 1853 and Louisa Brown MABLE b. 1853 d. 1853.
Louisa Simmonds then disappears and William marries again.
On 13 August 1853, William marries Agnes Taylor Valentine, on the certificate it states he was a widower. On 27th September 1853, William registers the birth of Louisa Brown MABLE. It states on the certificate she was born to Louisa on 17 August 1853, four days after he notified the church she was dead on his marriage cert. No death has been recorded in BMD.
On 15 November 1853, Eliza? Valentine was present at the death of Louisa Brown MABLE, who said she was 7 months old not 3 months as confirmed by the birth certificate.
Can anyone give me any clues to what happened to Louisa Simmonds?
Agnes already had a child (possibly illegitimate) in approx 1841 called Georgina/georgianna Fanny Valentine. On some census's she uses the surname MABLE. William and Agnes had a daughter called Mary Ann Valentine MABLE b. 1854 d. 1933.
Benjamin Isaac MABLE, b. 1848 married Sarah Jane Francis on 1 January 1875. They had 12 children that i have found so far. Kate Frances, Sarah Louisa, Benjamin, Agnes, Francis and Rhoda (twins died in 1st year), Wilfred, Dorothy (Dora), Norman, Leslie, Harold and Rowland.
Benjamin Isaac's son also Benjamin married Bessie Amelia PEARMAIN. They had 6 children including my Great Grandmother doris, the others were Irene, Rhoda, Violet Phyllis, Wilfred and Margaret. When Bessie died in approx 1920, Benjamin married her older sister Ada PEARMAIN.
The family grave number at Kensal Green Cemetry West London is 3929. It contains Emily Anna d. 1843, Sarah d. 1862, William b. 1794 d. 1880, William b. 1821 d. 1887 and finally Agnes Taylor (Valentine) MABLE d. 1890.
Does anyone have any further information or has anyone found who Isaac's father was?
Isaac died in 1843 at the age of 74.
Sorry to have rambled on but I hope this has been of some help to you all.
Lisa
