In the absence of information how about some wild speculation? Can we assume that Mabray is part of the Mabry/Mayberry/Mabrey group, or do you suspect a separate origin?I believe that most everyone agrees to a British Isles origin for those, likely from Maybury. There is apparently a Maesbury in England which may or may not have anything to do with Maybury.I think I read somewhere that Maesbury meant "dweller at the tribal hill" or something like that.Alternatively, if you think that Mabray might descend from Mowbray/Moubray then these seem to be traceable to the Normans of the Norman Conquest. These seem likely to be quite separate from the Mabry crowd according to what I am told.Note that all of this is pretty much hearsay.
