I'll tell you what I know about my MacDermid kin, my uncle said that they came from Skye, but I found that his Grandfather Malcolm MacDermid was born at Strond, Harris. The MacDermid's emigrated in 1843 to Cape Breton Island. The oldest member of the family was one Ann MacDermid, I believe she was my great-grandfather's grandmother, she was listed as 97 years old in the 1871 census for Victoria county, Living with her at that time wereArchie aged 65, Son Hannah aged 55 Daughter JohnAged 32 Grandson Rachel Aged 35 (John's Wife) Murdoch aged 11 (John's Son) AnnAged 9(John's Daughter,My Great-Grandmother)
