After Charlotte died in CO, my great great grandmother, Mary Alice (Mace) Lane married in 1935 to Samuel McNulty.Mary Alice was the daughter of Jesse Mace and Mary Catherine Scott. She was widowed and living in Anderson Co, Kansas at the time of Charlotte's death in 1934.Mary Alice and Samuel lived in the Garnett KS area until his death in 1936.
Also, in the pension file for Jesse's Civil War service, Mary Catherine had to prove the children's birth dates etc.One of the witnesses at the beginning was either Melissa (Sackman) or her sister Juliann.I don't have the file in front of me and I can't remember which sister it was.
Mary Catherine Scott remarried after Jesse died serving in the Civil War.She married a widower, John Wesley Reddington.John's first wife was Nancy Jane Mace, listed in the papers by John as Jane being a sister of Jesse's.In the 1850 census(Indiana • Hamilton • Washington) if you look at the actual image, it looks like there is a 14 year old Jane Mace living with the Fodrea family right by the twins and the Sackman girls. Also on the same page as the twins is a Chance family with what looks like a 12 year old Jesse Mace.
By the way, can I convince you to donate some cheek cells to get 'our' MACE line represented in a DNA project? :) It doesn't hurt, I promise!
