I am currently researching my Skye ancestors and have recently received a copy of a family tree via a 3rd party which has links to my own.I have tried to contact the originator of the family tree in order to discuss it further but to no avail. It starts with John Dubh MacGillivray (born circa 1635). I was wondering if any MacGillivray experts out there would be willing to take a look at it?
The earliest MacGillivray I can identify with any certainty is Archibald MacGillivray (born c. 1760) in Skye (probably parish of Sleat).According to the family tree I inherited Archibald's parents wereCharles MacGillivray (b. circa 1730 and Marion McLean.
Charles and Marion's other children were:
Donald MacGillivray b 1760s (?) who married Mary McInnes Ann MacGillivray b 1760s (?) who married Samuel Campbell
Archibald b. 1760 was marriedcirca 1787 to Ann McIvor (b. 1766 d. 1857, Kilmore).
Their children were:
Martinb1788d. 1871 Aird, Point of Sleat Archibaldb1790d. 1869 Aird Annb1791d. bef 1851 Camuscross (married blacksmith Donald McInnes (my 4x great grandmother) Margaretb.1794d. 1876 Stonefield (m. Ranald MacDonald) Angusb. 1801d. 1868 Aird.
According to my family tree his other children were: Kenneth (b. 1806?), Christy, Charles, Marion, Donald, Farqhuar and Malcolm.I have been unable to trace any of them.
It would be lovely to hear from anyone who can provide any further info on this family.
