Mackay/McCay, Scotland>NC, SC 1700s
My first known ancestor is William Mackay or McCay, born in Scotland about 1700. He may have been called William Thomas McCay (Mackay). He was married and had one son - Thomas McCay (Mackay) - born about 1730 in Scotland.
Thomas came to America about 1759-1763. He was granted ownership of 150 acres of a plantation in Craven County (present North Carolina) on the South side of Wateree River on a branch of Dutchman's Creek, 1762. He
died after July 1763 from yellow fever. He was the first white man to be buried on Buford Island.

Thomas had one son - Daniel McCay (Mackay) born in Scotland (Dec. 1756). Daniel came to America (thru New York) in 1773, with his uncle Peter Mackay. We think Peter was Thomas McCay's brother or uncle, as he was older than 16-year-old Daniel. Peter was a colonel in the British Army, and had been to America before 1773.

She was the daughter of Lewis Stanley and Adah Martin.
Their children were born in the Pendleton District of South Carolina - Spartanburg, Pickens County.
I would love to find out more about my lines from my Daniel back to Scotland.
