- believe Wm McKay 1799 is Robert William Mckay buried in North Embro Cemetry.
- local history of Oxford County states that the William McKay that lived on Concession 9( who is my G G G grandfather) was known as Captain McKay as he was an officer in the 93 Argyll and Sutherland regiment.
Helped raise a local militia during the rebellion of 1835-1837.
My records say Robert W Mckay maries a Catherine( known as Christy). Could be a Mckay but I am investigating her for possible Sutherland blood links.
My family have a common middle name of B for Bailey, but it could have originally been Bain. No one in family remembers why this middle name was preferred.
