Greetings Hello! My name is Bruce McRae and I am seeking help from my fellow McRae genealogists regarding one of the brothers of my ancestor John Campbell McRae of Anson County NC.My ancestor had an older brother named Alexander who was born circa 1790 most likely in Richmond or Cumberland Counties NC.When their father Farquhar McRae died circa 1832-33 in Anson County NC the family sold the family farm in 1834 to a Henry Haney. In the Deed of sale the wife of Farquhar and all the children are mentioned including a deceased son named Daniel. But one of the living sons who were mentioned did not sign the land transaction and that was Alexander.I believe the reason was he had already moved to Tennessee and started his own life; therefore he was unable to sign the Deed of sale. I believe I have found this Alexander McRae living in TN.I think he left Anson county NC in the 1818-19 or early 1820s and moved first to Dickson County then moved to Humphreys County then when Benton was split off from Humphreys County he ended up there. I am seeking any descendants of this Alexander McRae who it is said married first a Jane McLeod possibly in Anson County or somewhere in TN then married a Lavinia Rumbly in Humphreys or Benton County when his first wife died.It is believed he finally died about 1877 in Benton County TN. These are the children of Alexander McRae and his wives: Mary Ann born circa 1823 married Joseph Melton Elizabeth Jane born circa 1825 married William J. Greer Elizabeth Jane born circa 1832? Married James Byrn John L. born circa 1835 married Mahala Jane Alsup Martha A. born circa 1837 married Claiborn Herrin William H. born circa 1841 married Lidia Jane McBride Alexander C. born circa 1843 married Lanora Ann Brown Sarah Catherine born circa 1844 married Rev. McRae. Regards, Bruce McRae Golden, CO.
