Greetings Frank; You are absolutely correct. All the Macrander and Marcrander persons living in the world are descended from Arnoldus Macrander (born as Arnoldt Langemann). You mentioned Zeist, Holland in your message. In the Evangelische Broedergemeente graveyard (gravenumber 1075) in that city, is buried Christian Macrander, brother of my great grandfather, John Macrander who came to the U.S.A in 1840 at age 19 years. Christian died 25 Januari 1891 at age 66. Both brothers were born in Wetzlar am Lahn, Rhineland Province, Kingdom of Prussia (now in Hessen, Deutschland). He was a master glovemaker in the Broedergemeente and managed the glovemaking section. He never married. An older brother of John and Christian was Dr. Johannes Jacob Friedrich Macrander, M.D. who came to the U.S.A. about 1836 and lived in Fredrick, Maryland whith his wife and children, and where John came in 1840. John worked as a tanner of skins (Weisegerber). They all moved to Roanoke County, Virginia where Dr. Jacob Macrander was the first medical doctor in the town of Big Lick (now called Roanoke). John lived with Dr. Jacob's family and continued to work as a tanner an glovemaker. His father Johannes Macrander in Wetzlar am Lahn had been a tanner and John, Christian and their other brother Georg all were appretices to their father. Georg remained in Deutschland and today his descendent, Johannes Macrander lives in Otterndorf, near Cuxhaven, west of Hamburg. John Macrander moved westward in early 1850s to Metamora, Woodford County, Illinois to continue as a tanner and began farming. He married there and later moved his family to St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri for one year. In 1860 he moved to farm land he had purchased earlier in Atchison County, Missouri and built a log cabin to live in. Later on a frame house was built of finished lumber from a sawmill. This farm was near the present day villages of Westboro and Tarkio, Missouri. Many of John Macrander's descendents live in the surrounding states of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Many descendents of Dr. Jacob Macrander live in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Virginia. Persons with the name MARCRANDER are descended from a man who moved to Marburg, Hessen and families with that name live in Saint Louis, Missouri and New Jersey. Many Macrander families are descendents of Max S. Macrander of Holland who came to Warrenville, Illinois in 1958 from Hilversum, NL whith his wife and children. His father was Albertus Stefanus Macrander who owned the Macrander Store in Zutfen, NL. The store is still in the family and owned by Josephus (Joop) Macrander and managed by his daughter Felice. Recently I met Joop, his brothers Hans from Canada, Stefhanus (Stef) whose dau. Hester and Marjolyn are actresses in Amsterdam, and his sister Gezina (Ciny) Peppelen Bosch when they all visited Max in Warrensville, Illinois three years ago. Max has given me many of the elder Macrander names in the Netherlands and it is possible I may have your grandparents and parents among those. If you could mention great grand parents and grand parents that would be helpful in putting the many familys together in my family history book. Perhaps the Stadt Archive Marburg is the place where the original weapon was discovered. That is the archive I once wrote to to lean more about Arnoldus Macrander and his father Gercke LANGEMANN of Helsen, Waldeck, Hessen.
