My ggf, James H. MADDEN death records show he was born in OH Dec 25, 1847 and is buried in the Thayer, MO cemetery. MO. MO. D.O.D. 2 JAN 1919. Death records are available free on the internet.

Also try googling Oregon County Cemeteries.
Jim and Wil were brothers and both reportedly came from the Champaign, Effingham, IL area to first Randolph County,AR after the Civil War and then settled in Oregon County, MO, where they are buried. William MADDEN is buried in Two Mile (Mt. Zion) Cemetery, dod Apr 23, 1928.
Our information on James H is believed 100% correct. Not the case with Wil. Are these the two brothers from IL?
The BIRTHPLACE OHIO (on James H's DC) contradicts some census info showing IN & IL.
James H's spouse, my ggm, was Margaret A. WILLIAMS and records show them married 30 MAR 1870 in Effingham, IL. See MO death records for Margaret Ann MADDEN, D.O.D. 8-8-1927.
Samuel, Samul MADDEN is the person that puzzles most of us researching for the father of James Haven MADDEN. Apparentlly one spouse was Alice WHEELER (in addition to one shown on James H's death certificate)Some unconfirmed information suggests Samuel had a brother that was drowned in a boating accident.Location unknown. We believe they came to the U.S. from County Cork, Ireland?
Good Luck in your research.
