Hello Patty ;D The only part that fits my Lizzy Madigan is, that she was from a cirus family from the states who traveled in England...My grandmother, Lizzy, grew up in a circus and vaudeville family performing and traveling, since she was a young child...I am wondering if our Madigan families might be connected...My grandmother was born Nov.1882 in Bingingham, England. I believe she was born a Madigan, but her parents divorced when she was very young, and she later took her step-father's sur name,(Holdsworth)--so her legal name became, Elizabeth Margaret Holdsworth.
Here is what I have: Charles Madigan Born: abt 1845 in Orleans, [county], LA, USA Died: Children Sex Birth James A MadiganM abt 1871 in [city], [county], NY, USA Ida E MadiganF abt 1875 in [city], Birmingham, [county], England Charles D Madigan (or Holdsworth)M abt 1878 in Paris, [department], [region], France Elizabeth Margaret(Lizette,or Lizzy))Madigan(Holdsworth)F 24 Nov 1882 in [city], Birmingham, [county], England Ada Madigan (or Holdsworth)F abt 1884 in Holland ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let me know if any of the above sounds like our families could be related...I remember my grandmother telling me that either her real father, "Charles Madigan," or her step-father (Sam Holdsworth )was a well-known irish tenor that sang at the Orpheum Theater,in NY, until he was up in his 80's.
I think it would be exciting to find that we have family ties. They had a lot of children way back then. My grandmother had 7 brothers and sisters I believe.
