Mary Sophia Lavigne was my maternal grandmother. Her daughter Marietta Mary Madore was my mother. Mary Sophia and William John Madore were indeed married in St. Anne's Church Rapides Des Joachims, Quebec on May 5, 1909. Although the existing structure was not the original they were married in. I cannot confirm if they ever lived in Pembroke when they were first married, but I do know they took up residence in Rapides Des Joachims, Que as early as 1910 and lived there until their deaths. In fact because my mother was the youngest child and my family moved in with Mary Sophia in the mid 1960s to look after her until she passed. We still own the family home which is square-timbered log home built in 1822.
Listening to conversations between my mother and grandmother about Louise and William McClure would confirm the sisters close relationship before the move to Saskatchewan.
Des Joachims is an Island in the Ottawa river about 8mi west of Point Alexander, Ontario were Mary Sophia and Louise Elizabeth were born.
