This affidavit was obtained in 1949 by my grandmother, María Madrid de Delfín, who was born (1886) in San Antonio but her father Gabriel Madrid was from Cd. Juárez / El Paso. It is the baptism record of my great-grandfather which reads in Spanish as follows (English translation is mine):
"Monsignor Baudelio Pelayo, administrative priest of the Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Ciudad Juárez, Chih.
That in the baptismal book number 18 of the parish archives, page 119, on the back, there is a certificate that reads:
In the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Villa del Paso, on the 18th of March, 1854, the presbytery, don Andrés Carreon, as assistant baptism priest, solemnly poured Holy Water and placed a chrism on an two-day old infant, whose name is José Gabriel, legitimate son of Tiburcio Madrid and Tiburcia Durán, members of this parish. Paternal godparents: Pablo Madrid and Guadalupe Esquivel. Maternal grandparents: Miguel Durán and Anita Cisneros, who by their obligation affirmed the parenthood, and signed this act, along with me, Ramón Ortiz, Andrés Carreon and Rubricas."
