3639.JOHN MAHURIN (son of 3015.Samuel and 3013.Phebe) was born 7 November 1812 at Shelby County, Kentucky, and moved to Illinois with his parents when about 4 years old. He married 17 July 1834 in Madison County, IL, RACHAEL MOORE, born 20 April 1819, dau. of Capt. Abel and Mary (Bates) Moore. He died 17 February 1846 in Macoupin County, IL. Possibly she also died before 1850, as she was not listed in the 1850 Census, wherein their children were living with another family.

“History of Madison County, IL” (Brink & Son, 1882): John Mahuern - - married a daughter of Captain Abel Moore and located in Moro, 1833; he lived here but a short time. Capt Able Moore settled Wood River 1808, was born in NC, his wife was Mary Bates. (Comment: Rachael had a sister Nancy, who perhaps was the Nancy Hedden above with whom the children were living as of the 1850 Census. John ‘s brother Stephen and their parents were living in Macoupin Co. as of 1850).

This is the grave of Joshua Mahuran 1842 to 1911 - - - Joshua was a son of Rachel and John --- Rachel was born April 20, 1819 according to Abel Moore’s Bible but I don’t have her death data - - -“

March 1840, probably at Macoupin Co. She died in 1842.

3746.PHEBE ELIZABETH MAHURIN (dau. of 3640.Stephen) was born 14 November 1841 at Macoupin County, Illinois. She died September 1931. She married (1st) JAMES JACKSON, who died 1861 in the Civil War. They had one child. She married (2nd)McCLOUD, they had a daughter; he later disappeared, she obtained a divorce. She married (3rd) JAMES W. STROUD. Children of Phebe E. Mahurin:
Steven Henry Jackson, b. 18 Aug 1861, d. 16 Nov 1905, m. 10 Sep 1885 Louella Williams b. 30 Nov 1866. They had children Myrtle Elizabeth 17 Jun 1886, Earl William 31 Oct 1887, and Ethel Viola 9 Mar 1891.
Ella McCloud b. 21 Mar 1867, who also took the surname Jackson.
