I have an article about the foundry called The Saga of an Iron Foundry.Iam not sure who wrote it as it is a photocopy passed to me by my father. He was Robert Maitland, was the eldest son of William McCowat Maitland the younger brother of Robert Maitland who you referred to.William like his sister emigrated.William went to Australia as a Presbyterian minister riding around on horseback in western Queensland.I visited Airdrie with great Aunt Jessie the second wife of Robert when I first visited Scotland in 1971.The article acknowledges the help she provided in writing it.She had worked in the foundry as Secretary and Cashier until 1945.She went to nurse her sister - first wife of Robert and then married him in 1948.They lived in Seamill in West Kilbride.
I would be happy to send you a copy of this article if you contact me through this page.
My father died in 2004 aged 88 and his younger brother Ian in 2005. They are survived by one sister Beulah Sneddon who lives near Gosford in New South Wales.
Any news of the foundry would be welcome and the family history
