Margaret Maley, (1824-1891), m. John P. Brady (1815-1875), to Ohio around 1873
I've gotten as far as I think I can on the husband's side, I thought this might help forachange.
My gg-grandmother, Maggie Brady, was said to be youngest of 11 children int he article about her death in a house fire/explosionin April, 1911. I know her parents were John P. Brady (1815-1875) and Margartet Maley (1824-1891) and she worked at the Onesta Hotel for a time while married to John J. Fitzpatrick of New York, whose parents were from Ireland.
The Bradys settled in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. I have some of the childrens' names otherwise as well:
(John) Patrick Brady, 1846-1928; Anna, 1853-1939 (married Wm. Fitzgerald), Thomas (1855-1937), James (1857-1924), Mary Anne (1859-1926, married Jacob Dyer), Catherline (Kate (1861-1949, never married), and William, dates unknown. Maggie's (Margaret's) is 1864 or 1869-1911. (She was married in 1883, so '64 or thereabouts is a bit more logical)
Maggie's newspapre story says she was born in St. Jon's Point, Ireland, but there's no record of said Bradys there; the closest William appears to be one born in 1868 in Ballyshannon, Donegal, Ireland. Could the others be born there? Anna's said she was born in Ulster, also in Donegal; could be others be from there? I don't know if Irish sites are searchable for free.
There is a thomas Brady listed as dying in Moultrie, Ohio, in 1937 whose parents are John P. and Margaret Brady... but his birthplace is given as Sligo, County Cork, Ireland - could some of these Brady have been born there and the family moved? How common was such movement in those days? Since this document doesn't say for sure his mom's maiden name was Maley, like the others, you can see why there's confusion.
So, I'm thinking maybe with the name Maley, the confusion will get straightened out, if anyone would know where this Margaret Maley came from. Also, I'm still looking on which ship(s) they came on in 1871-3, I figure they came ins hifts, as often happened. The article on Maggie says she came in 1873.
Also, was it uncommon for a woman to have a baby at age 47 in 1871? Becasue that's how old Margaret would have been if William was born that late. If it says maggie was youngest, I tend to think that's accurate, if they were distraught to get the date or age right.
Thanks for taking time to read this and thanks for any replies.
