No I don't know where in Ireland, I was told to ask you the same thing by a cousin here.
All I know about the the father James Malloy is that he was a teacher in Scranton and came to Atkinson Ne in the spring of 1882 and was caught in a very bad blizard that winter and frooze to death, he is buried in St Joesph's Cemetery.
In referance to your message on 3/2. There is a niece of James J. alive here, she is 94 her name is Catherine, her father was Thomas J. Malloy, she knew a Mary Molloy, but called her May, she wrote letters to her to keep in contact until she died in a nursing home in 1992. She said she open a beauty shop after her husband was killed in a mining accident, they knew each other as children when the families moved back to Nebr in 1910. She remembers that Mae Trankel as she refers to her had two sons one was James but could not recall the other's name.
The Michael Malloy in the census was accidenttly hit with a bat when he was a child, a bunch of kids were playing baseball. This happened a short time after they came to Atkinson some time after 1882, Catherine remembers this for sure.
I'm almost 100% sure we have the same people. All of the members in the Scranton 1880 cencus, if we are talking about the same people are all buried in Atkinson.
Is your wife a daughter of Ronald or James Trankel? I have the obits for James J., Thomas J. and Charles Malloy, I could E-mail them if you like.
