The marriage you referred to is the last (or first) in the lineage I have seen as well.Prior to that, all I've seen for family history (other than ecclesiastical) is a reference to an Edmond or Edmund in 1512:
“All the lands in Westmeath belonging to this Bisprk were demised [convey or grant (an estate) by will or lease] by Bishop.Jones, 9ber 1512 to Edd. Malone, for 71 years [until 1583], paying thereout 10 Beeves [a cow, bull or ox fattened for its meat] yearly, and preserving the young Hawks of Gos. Hawks, Falcons, Farsals breeding in the woods of Clonmacnoise, half of which he is bound to deliver to the Bishop of Meath, at his house in Ardbracon, or pay three pounds sterling for every Hawk that shall be stolen or otherwise negligently lost; but by reason of the continued felling of great timber in the woods, for which the Lesee hath to licensce granted, the Hawks within this year or two have forsaken the place, and so ye Bishop hath lost ye benefit of ye reservation.” Archbishop Usher’s Report to King James’ Comissions of the State of Diocese of Meath 1622 From Monahan
FYI - as far as I know, I am not a direct descendant of the Malones of Ballinahown.I just keep information on the surname in Ireland, mostly prior to the 17th century.
