The Draper Manuscript Collection is housed at the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison, WI. It's the papers of Dr. Lyman Copeland Draper who traveled all over the midwest interviewing old pioneers and their descendants during the mid 1800s. The information I posted was from an interview he conducted. I'm not sure who he interviewed specifically, but it was a daughter of John Thickston, who was a small girl when their family was attacked on the Ohio River in March 1780 when they were traveling to Kentucky.
The narrative didn't have much more information, but I do recall it mentioned a William Thickston, a son. How are you related?
I'm in the middle of a move right now, but I can find the book on Monday I got this transcript from and post the entire account.
