Seeking information on the following four men (and their kin) who immigrated to Butler Co, PA, in 1907:Ivan MANCE (age 30), son of Anton MANCE of Skrad, Croatia; Josip MANCE (age 38), husband ofMarja MANCE of Skrad, Croatia; Ivan GRGURIC (age 40), husband of Anna GRGURIC of Skrad; and Anton GRGURIC (age 34), husband of Marja (?) GRGURIC of Skrad. All four men arrived from Skrad aboard the ship 'New York' sailing from Southampton, England; all were listed as farm laborers whose final destination was to be the Pittsburgh, PA area.Ivan MANCE was married, but listed his father instead of his wife as closest relation in the Old Country. He was to join a friend, Molija (?) OZANIC (? or GRGURIC?name difficult to read in record) of Box 402, Lyndora, PA.Josip MANCE had visited Butler, PA, in 1904, and in 1907 was to join a 'friend' Juray (?) GRGURIC at 51 Standard (?) St., in Butler.Ivan GRGURIC had visited Illinois in 1902, and in 1907 was to join a 'friend' Turo (or Juro?) GRGURIC of 51 Standard (?) St., Butler, PA.Anton GRGURIC was to join his brother Anabros (? or Anton?) GRGURIC at 3608 Smallmann (?) St. in Pelding (? or Reading?) PA.
Josip MANCE's wife Marja (age 34) and three children Oscar (8), Danica (5), and Marja (4) arrived in 1909 from Skrad on the ship 'New York' sailing from Cherbourne, Manche, France. Her closest relation left behind in Skrad was her mother, Katarine GRGURIC.Marja and the children were to join her husband at 331 6th Ave, Calumet, MI.
Ivan MANCE is probably the brother-in-law of Anton ABRAMOVIC, who arrived (age 40) in 1909 from Skrad on the ship 'St. Paul' sailing from Southampton, England. He was to join his brother-in-law Ivan MANCE at Butler H. P. O (?), Calumet, MI.Anton's closest relation left behind in Skrad is (errantly) given as his 'husband' Terczija (?) ABRAMOVIC (should read 'wife Marja ABRAMOVIC').We know her from other records in the U.S. to be Marja (MANCE) ABRAMOVIC (1871-1957), and she arrived in 1910 (at age 39) from Skrad aboard the ship 'S.S. Teutonic' sailing from Southampton, England with her children from Skrad, headed to join her husband Anton in Godfrey, Mercer Co, WV (near Bluefield). Her closest relation left behind in Skrad at that time was her brother-in-law, Turo GRGURIC.Her death certificate names her father as John (= Ivan?) MANCE (mother not named), which does not match the 1907 record above for her evident brother Ivan, whose father is given as Anton MANCE.The informant on the death certificate was Mary's son, Charles BRAMLISH.
Anton ABRAMOVIChad previously come to the U.S. (at age 31) from Skrad in 1901, on the ship 'S.S. L'Aquitaine' sailing from Havre, France. Also from Skrad was a Josip ABRAMOVIC (age 36), and both men listed their final destination as Cadleburg (? not clear) NY, to join unspecified relatives there.Anton and his wife were in Wisconsin in 1914 and in 1920 they appear as Tony & Mary BRAMOVICH on the federal census of Luzerne Township, Fayette Co, PA.About 1929, they moved to join their widowed daughter Fannie (BRAMOVICH) MILATOVICH in Muskingum Co, OH.Fannie and her husband Mato had bought land there in 1921 from Ignatz 'Jim' GREGORICH (= Ignac GRGURIC?) and his wife Anna.Tony and Mary's eldest daughter Mary BRAMOVICH is said to have married a GREGORICH and resided in LA.I have further information on Tony and Mary's family I wouldbe glad to share.Any input appreciated. Thanks -- John Mallory Land, McKinney, TX
