I wanted to say thank you for the jpeg of my Aunt June. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner to your request for any info about the picture or Lincoln High School. June died in January of this year and my father was her youngest brother.I asked him about Lincoln HS and this is what he told me.
The whole family went to Lincoln HS. June went her last 2 or 3 years but graduated from McKinley HS, I think because Lincoln was being built or something. June's brother Robert was in the 1st graduating class of Lincoln (who were bitter rivals to McKinley).
Lincoln was a junior high school in 1970’s, went to High School grades, turned back into a Junior High School, and was finally sold to a private source. The Auditorium was used for all major events.Lincoln was first of all the high schools in the league/area/state to beat McKinely High School in football. They had a huge rivalry for a long time.
Chuck Forest was the Assistant Football coach and died recently in 90’s (93?) but he knew lots about Lincoln, students, and history, and he did all the scouting for the football team. Forest was a tall man - 6ft 120 lbs and he was really good at volleyball. He loved to play and would take on 2 guys after football practice and beat devil out of all. Real athelete, didn’t give away anything. My father respected him a lot and was sorry at his passing.
I'm not sure that helps but those were some of his memories of Lincoln HS. Thanks again for the photo. Cindy
