My great great grandfather was Nicolo Mangiere, born March 18, 1849 in Italy (possibly Salerno). His parents were Mariantonia Costa and Gaetano Mangiere both born in Italy. My great great grandmother was Michelina Fasano, born the about 1862 in Italy.
Nicolo emigrated in 1871 and Michelina in 1879. It is believed Nicolo had brothers but we're not sure of their names or if they came to America. Michelina Fasano had at least one brother named Julio Fasano (whose children were named Peter and Charles)
Nicolo was a real estate agent by profession and he was a wealthy one at that.
Nicolo and Michelina's children were:
Antoinette, b. Oct 1882, married Louis diSanti Rosa, b. Feb 1884, married Peter Imperiale Louisa, b. Jul 1885, married Stephen Guardino Joseph, b. Dec 1888, married Anna Rinelli Thomas, b. July 1890, married Josephine Sanna John, b. May 1893, married Hildegarde Charlie, b. Apr 1895, married Fern, divorced, died in prison Elvira, b. Feb 1896, married Dr. Donato Viggiano Nicholas, b. 1901, married Irma, divorced
The family owned a huge house at 8221 19th Avenue in Brooklyn. THey were across and down the street from the Viggiano, Rinelli, and Guardino families.
Nicolo died in June 1915 and Michelina died in 1938. They and several other family members are buried at Calvary Cemetery in Queens. Other family members (Guardino/Rinelli) are at GreenWood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
BTW, the Mangiere name was also spelled Mangeri or Mangieri!
