Nova Scotia
There appear to be several Manning families in Nova Scotia and they may not be related. There is at least one family who arrived there in the 1700s from Ireland. In the mid 1800s, I am finding at least two Manning men named Thomas Manning whose origins are from England. Both men have wives named Mary. Quite confusing.
Several of us are searching for Thomas Manning and his wife Mary Stapleton who emigrated from Werrington, Northamptionshire, England sometime in the 1850s. With them were their sons Abraham, John, and William and their daughter Ann. Thomas and Mary also had a daughter Sarah, but we have no information about her. She may have died prior to the family emigrating.
These Mannings settled in Hants County and it appears that the men became involved in mining. We have no knowledge about what happened to Thomas and Mary-where they lived in Hants, when they died and where they lie buried.
