Jose Antonio Manzanares born in 1805 (there were two born about the same time in Rio ArribaCounty NM,the other was born in 1800.) was the son of Juan Cristival Manzanares, with several different birth dates.I have found his baptismal record and it gives it as 8/5/1776.I have seen other dates as 1778 , 1780, 1786.He was married to a Maria Francisca Martin.
Juan Crivtival's father was Jose (Josef/Joseph) Manuel and was listed in the records as being from Chama, and a Coyote. In the early NM records, there was a Caste/class system and a Coyote was 3/4 Indian and 1/4 Spanish.
Jose Manuel was married to Maria Manuela Salazar (Spanish)So Jose Manuel married her inSanta Clara2 25 1776.
His father was Juan Antonio Manzanares born 1723. He married Ana Maria Valdez.
All these Manzanares live near Abiquiu and Rio Chama, along the Chama River that joins the Rio Grand near Espanola.
Juan Antonio Manzanares father may have been Juan Mateo and mother Maria Madrid, both born abt 1700.
All but Juan Antonia and Maria Madrid have been proven by orginal records. You may write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org and put Manzanares in the subject line, if you want more information on this family or any of the maternal lines.I have most of them back one or two generations.
