Here is some information which may be valuable to you. This is the story of Nathaniel Marble. One of his sons is Aretas, I don't know if its the Aretas you need, because I have no further info on him. I habe no sources and have not verifies this information, it came to me from another family source.
Nathaniel MARBLE-was born 1721 in Sudburg, Middlesex, MA. He died 8 Jun 1802 in Marbletown, Wayne, NY and was buried in Marbletown, Wayne, NY. Marbletown is about seven miles east of Palmyran New York. Here the Marbles planted a vigerous settlement. Nathaniel & Abigail owned about 300 acres of land. Although some of the Marbles moved to other sections many of them and their decendants lived here for three generations. Nathaniel married Abigail Houghton in Harvard, Massachusetts at the age of 34. Her home had been in Harvard located only 5 or 10 miles south from Nathanial's home. She died in Marbletown, Ohio at age 93. One son Abijah was born in Sudbury. They had four sons. Aretas, Abijah, Nathaniel II and Ephriam. They were all baptized in the first church in Deerfield. For some reason they had travelled the 10 miles south to do this. Nathaniel I and family were living in Conway and were included among the first settlers of that town. Church records show that Nathaniel I's wife attended church regularly. In 1775 at the age of 53 Nathaniel I was chosen "Derriff". His son Aretas died in the Revolutionary war in July of 1776 at the age of 17. It should be noted here that the relationship between the colonies and England had become intollerable. These colonists were willing to fight fortheir freedom. They wanted representation when taxes were laid upon them and they were distressed because the govoners appointed by England tried to force them to go to the church of England.
A younger son Nathaniel Jr. was born to Nathaniel I, who we'll call Nathaniel II. He was the first of the Marble line to be able to sign his name. This he did when he bought 60 acres from his father who had signed with a cross. Nathaniel I also sold 12 acres of land to Nathaniel II, for 12 pounds.
