Sarah, From the "Dictionnaire biographique des ancêtres québécois (1608-1700) Tome 3, by Michel Langlois, it is written in part(my English translation): MARCEAU François (c.1642-1687) (MARCEREAU) Son of André Marceau (Marcereau on the marriage contract) and of Marie Guignaud, living in the borough of Tier (Thiré), bishopric of Poitou [France], he contracted marriage before the Notary Pierre Duquet, on Saturday the 10th of October 1671, with Marie-Louise Beaupère (Bolper), daughter of the late Gilles Beaupère and of the late Nicole Richer, from the bishopric of Chartres in the Beauce, (from the borough of Tranchefetu, according to Godbout) and wedded her on Monday the 12th of October 1671, at Sainte-Famille of the Isle of Orleans [Quebec]. From their union five children were born.
In the same tome, it is also written: MARCOUX Pierre (c.1631-1699) Son of Claude Marcoux and of Marie Jouineau, of Saint-Julien de Cry, Tonnerre County [France], he contracted marriage before the Notary Vachon on Sunday the 27th of November 1661 with Marthe de Rainville, whom was baptised at Saint-Thomas de Touques in Normandy [France] on Friday the first of March 1647, daughter of Paul de Rainville and of Rolline Poète and wedded her at Quebec [City, New France]on Sunday the 8th of January 1662. From their union eleven children are born. (He lived all his life on a farm in Beauport [Quebec]).
I looked into the Tanguay dictionary and I conclude that there is no connection between the two last names.
