I know of Hannah Marcy who was born near Woodstock, Il. in 1843. She was the oldest child of Danforth Marcy b.1816 in Ashford, Ct. Danforth was the youngest of four brothers and his mother Polly Work Marcy died shortly after his birth. His father Orin Marcy died when he was 10 years old. Danforth and his brother Stephen were apprenticed the year before their father died. Six years later his older brother Joe Work Marcy helped he and steve escape their bondage (by giving them money) and they both found themselves in Chicago circa 1832. Stephen got married and of his six children their may be desc. in Springfield, Il. Danforth went to rural Mchenry Co. in 1837. In 1842 he met and married his wife Elizabeth. The danforth Marcys lived near Woodstock until circa 1864 when (she died) he moved to Iowa, near Rowley. He bought a farm and injured himself working in field. He was also known as a great horse trainer and raised many horses, a trait inherited by his two sons. I had thought this Hannah Marcy who I think died in 1915 would have been the right age to marry John Forrest. Hannah's two brothers have many Marcy desc. some quite notable. Any questions or comments I am happy to respond.
