Can anyone help with information about the following family...
James Markham, 20 years old, from O’Brien’s Bridge, CountyClare arrived Sydney 23 Nov 1863 as an assisted passenger onboard “John Vanner”.
Parents stated as Michael & Margaret.Shipping documents also sate he was to join his brother Joseph at Hopkins Creek (the only Hopkins Creek that I can find is in northern New South Wales where there was timber getting at the time).
His brother, Joseph, paid a deposit of 5 pounds on 21 Jan 1863 for James’ passage to Australia. The parish priest at Killaloe Parish was named as a referee. I am assuming that Joseph was already in Australia when he paid this deposit.
