I am a great grandson of Clark Markham who lived in
Humburg, Wisconsin in the early to mid 1800's. My grand
father Everett Andrew was a twin of Eva Nettie and the
children of Clark and his first wife Derretta Trausse.
Derretta lost her life in a tragic fire in 1876 and is
buried in Humburg, Wis. Clark, unable to care for the twins asked the twins aunt and uncle to adopt the twins. Thus my
grandfather became Everett Andrew Markham Tuttle as his
uncle's name was Edgar N. Tuttle. The sister twin was
also adopted by the aunt and eventually married John Henry Powell. My grandfather Everett Andrew Markham Tuttle married my grandmother Eva Hannah Ramsdell in 1893 and all of the above are buried in the cemetery in Dickinson Center , NY. My purpose in writing is that my mother Lilah Tuttle Moomey often told me that we were related to Edwin Markham, the poet. I am trying to trace back from my great grandfather Clark Markham to see if there is any connection. Any help, anybody?Richard Moomey..>[email protected]
