Just found out that my great great grandmother was Mary MARLEY/MARLY (DOB: Sept 1856) and her parents were Patrick MARLEY (b. abt. 1814), and Ann FOGARTY (b. abt 1814 also) from Ireland and lived in Black Rock/Buffalo, NY in 1850 (census info) and had one child born in Ireland, Michael (b.in 1836), and the rest were born in NY: Anthony (b. in 1842), John (b. in 1845), and Patrick (b. in 1848).
She wasn't born by this census, so I am assuming they are her parents and know there is a Patrick Marley in her family because of one the depositions signed in her pension files of her husband that I recently received in the mail.Looking at the dates, Michael COULD be her father also. Mary Marley married at 14 yrs 8 mos to a soldier who called himself Edward Harrison but married her as Edward Costello.Turns out his real name was Ensign Simmons from Troy, NY.
Mary lived in Buffalo most or all of her life. She had to prove to the government that she was married and had children from Ensign/Edward and it took 131 pages to do that!
Any help for my Buffalo, NY Marleys would be greatly appreciated.I see there are a lot in other states, but I don't see any for NY.Maybe they moved after she married in 1871?I don't have access to the census as my subscription for ancestry.com has expired, but found the 1850 census online for Black Rock, NY.Thanks for ANY HELP!!!
