I have been researching the Marlins that settled in NE Pettis Co, Mo. I have seen death dates for this Thomas Marlin to be before 1840.I assume this is based upon not finding him in the 1840 census.I even saw one that had his death as early as 1831.
I have found a deed recorded in Pettis Co Mo between Thomas C. Marlin and his wife Allice (party of the first part) and Thomas Marlin (party of the second part). This deed basically gives everything that Thomas and Allice own to their son, Thomas, in return for care and support in their old age. This included the ground they owned (E ½ of NW ¼ of S34 T48 R20 in Pettis Co), the house, and all the buildings on this land. This deed was dated Oct 31, 1844.That means Thomas C. Marlin did not die until after Oct 1844.
This is recorded in the Pettis Co Deeds Book C, page 377.
Just thought I would pass along this bit of info that I had found.
