Clarene,
My great grandafther was John B. Maroney (b. March 1843) and he was born about the same time the son of Bridget and Patrick Maroney was born. I am not sure if they weremy John's parents or not. I have three places of birth for him -- TN (Memphis, specifically), AR and MS but have not been able to proove any of them. Bridget and Patrick's son (according to the census) was born in NY, which I figure was when they came from Ireland. My John Maroney enlisted in the Confederate army in Pontotoc Co., MS in 1862. He was wounded at Sharpsburg, MD and released. I don't have any idea where is is from that time until he shows up in Prairie Co., AR in `878 when he married my great grandmother. I've not found him on the 1870 census yet.
Anyway, I am working on Patrick and Bridget hoping to find out if they were his parents. At one time I had copies of Patrick's estate papers, but think they got thrown away by accident.
Oh--I have Queen's in my family, who some say is the same as Quinn. My Queen's are on my dad's side of the family, and Maroney is on my mom's.
Thanks for your reply.
Kay
