On a hunch that most people use to use their relatives as witnesses I attempted to track down the female witness to the marriage of Micheal J. Curtin and Margaret Maroney in Boston in 1889. Her name was Bridget Downes.
Going through the Mass Vitals of that period I found a Bridget Downes,40, who married a Patrick J. O'Connell,34, on October 5, 1908. In the record Bridget's parents are listed as Patrick Downes and Susan Maroney.
This makes me wonder if Bridget and Margaret were cousins.Interestingly both are listed on their marriage certificates as cooks-nothing for nothing but perhaps the first immigrant got the second a job.The O'Connells appear to have moved to Revere, Massachusetts by 1920 and had one daughter Margaret born around 1912. He was a printer for a newspaper.
Does this kind of family history linked to anyone's out there?
