I am looking for any information on Richard Marriner who came to New Zealand in the early 1800's. One record suggests that Mathew Marriner was his brother and they both came on a boat called the Triton in 1836, though my stepfather believes there are records suggesting that he was actually here in the 1820's.
Richard married a Maori lady called Hatariti and had a son, George.
Mathew married Rebecca Hambley Pell and had 11 children.
There may have been a third brother, possibly William.
My stepfather is descenced from Richard Marriner, but has been unable to find out details of his birth or family. It is believed he was born in England, but we can not prove anything.
Two possible birth years have been suggested: 1819 or 1798. He died in Hokianga, NZ, in 1859.
Can anyone help please??!! I have searched online info, but come up with nothing useful. I'd really like to help my stepfather tie up this final lose end in his family research.
