There is a gap of over a dozen years between Charity's and Jacob's first two children and the rest. The first were born in 1778 and 1780. The next, assuming two daughters were really theirs, was sometime in the mid 1790s. It looks to me that they were separated during that time. One way for that would be if Charity had Loyalist relatives, who took her and their first two (infant) children back to England, while Jacob was off fighting the British until 1781. He carved out a new farm in South Carolina (Kershaw County or area) after 1790. In that scenario, she would probably have returned via Charleston. Later they first moved to Kentucky, then eventually to Indiana.
