John H.Martz,who died suddenly of pneumonia on Monday, June 10,1929 was a resident of Hannibal,Wis.for the past eight years. Mrs.R.E.Teegarden of this city is one of the surviving children. Mr.Martz came to Hannibal in 1921,from Greenville, (Darke Co.) Ohio,and has since been engaged in farming and live stock raising. He was secretary-manager of the Farmers' Co-operative bureau of his community. He was born November 8,1861 at Greenville,Ohio. All but the last eight years were spent in the town of his birth. He graduated from the Greenville High School in 1880 and went into the hardware business. On February 12,1884 he was married to Jennie Huddle. A little son died in infancy,but the three daughters of this union are living: Mrs.(Mary) R.W.Allen of Cody,Wy. Mrs.(Helen) Milton Uhl of Los Angeles,California and Mrs.(Bertha) Rolland E.Teegarden of Hannibal,Wis. Mr.Martz's chief business intrests were agricultural, and stock raising. For many years he held the office of secretary-treasurer of the National Pollard Durham Beeder's Association. Mr.Martz was an active Mason,having taken the degrees of Blue Lodge,Chapter,Council,Consistory,and Shrine. He was a member of the Methodist-Episcopal Church. Besides his widow and daughters,Mr.Martz leaves three brothers: Adelbert and James of Greenville,Ohio and Benjamin of Indianapolis,Indiana,and also six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Hannibal Thursday and the body was shipped to Greenville,Ohio for burial.
