Hello. My name is Mike and I'm 39 years old and trying to get more info on my family tree.I saw your posting and had to reply because of the connection to ClINTON, IN. known as "Little Italy".Maybe this will help...This is what my father has given me...
I, Mike, am the son of Charles and Phyllis Massa. My father, Charles, is one of three brothers, they being Paul and Frank. They were raised in CLINTON, IN.
Their father (my Grandfather) was Paul Peter Massa, born 16 Feb 1906, died 26 Sept 1978.My Grandfather, Paul, was one of six kids: John, Margaret, Bernadine, Viola, and Silvio being the others.Paul was married to Frances Ferrara, born 25 Nov 1908, died I think about 15 years ago.
Paul was the son of Carlo "Charley" Massa and Domenica Pastore, who both came from Lavone,Italy and died in Clinton, IN. Carlo or "Charley" had a brother named Giacomo "Jim" who married Lisa "Elizabeth" who lived out their lives on a small farm in Centenary, a few miles away from Clinton. They had four sons and a daughter: James, Charles, John, Jules, and beautiful Kathryn.
Carlo's parents were, again, Carlo Massa and Margerita Pastore.Domenica was the daughter of Paolo Pastore and a lady named Bernadina.
Frances Ferrara was the daughter of Francesco (Frank) Ferrara (born 10 Aug 1879 in Palazzo, Sicily and died 27 June 1969 in Clinton)and Marietta (Mary) Sciacca (born 8 July 1886 in Prizza, Sicily and died 6 Aug 1968 in Clinton.Frank had a brother Cristoforo "Chris" who early on worked on the railroad, which took them out to Colorado, where they became cowboys on a cattle ranch. Later, both living in Indiana.Frank eventually sold the farm and bought the "Clinton Meat Packing Company.Chris married a gal named Lena Masarachia.Frank and Mary had a son named Bert and of course, Frances, my dad's mom.
Francesco "Frank" was the son of Bartolomeo Ferrara and Francesca Canariata.Marietta was the daughter of Lorenzo Sciacca and Vincenza Alongi.
There is a little more from the letter my father wrote me several years back - but I hope this helps!Perhaps some one can fill in the blanks for me someday...
