Hello! I am the great-great-granddaughter of Khamees Toufik Massad of Jedaidat Marjayoun, Lebanon, who lived from 1850 to 1900. He had three sons who emigrated to the United States. The eldest son was named Alexander (Skandar), my great-grandfather. There was a mixup at Ellis Island when Alexander introduced himself as "Skandar ibn Khamees". The "Khamees" was really a patronymic and that was considered the polite way to introduce yourself in Lebanon, but the official mistook it for the family name (which was really Massad), so we've been saddled with the family name of "Khamees" ever since then. However, since I am the daughter of a daughter of a daughter on that side of the family, I have long since lost both the Khamees and the Massad names. If you share this ancestry, please let me know, and also if you have any information of any ancestors before Khamees Toufik Massad, since that's as far back as my records go.
