Hi Vivian, My James Curtis married in October 1845, St. Joseph Co. Indiana, to a lady named " Lucy ????" I have been trying to figure out her last name. In the Indiana marriage license info, I have found it spelled as: Gasuerin, Gosuem, Gasuem. I now have a copy of the marriage license and it looks as if it is spelled: Gasuerm or Gosuerm. I have searched every search engine and there is no one out there with any of these spellings. I am assuming it was spelled by the way it was pronounced and not properly spelled. I am taking a wild guess that it is either French or perhaps Native American since she was married in Northern Indiana.
He Then remarried in 1859 to a widow named Matilda Roberts and then they had a few children together.
