Nathaniel (Nathan), John W., Bleuford Mathis Cannon County, TN
I am trying to establish the family unit for Nathan (Nathaniel) Mathis who was living in Cannon County in the early 1800's.
My working hypothesis is that the children of Nathan (Nathaniel) are Daniel, Charlotte, John W., Lewis and Bleuford.(Nathaniel in the 1840 census has eight children listed, five boys and three girls.)
I have found Bleuford, along with his cousins, Richard and William Henry (sons of John W.) as having enlisted together at Dekalb County. (1890 Veteran's Census Dekalb, TN)
In the 1850 Cannon County TN census both Bleuford and Lewis are listed with family. Bleuford with his aunt, Charlotte Mathis Dodd; Lewis with his uncle John W. (Family 224 and 215) Both are listed as 14. Could they be twins?
Below is what I have constructed about the two family groups (Nathaniel and John W.) based upon the census and other documents. Can anybody refute or support the hypothesis?
