A book edited by Dr. Thomas Cushing, et al and published in Chicago in 1889, Retititled and Reprinted by Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc at Baltimore in 1975 contains a biographical sketch for "Jacob Maurer" who this book states was born 26 June 1805 as a son of Jacob L. and Catherine (Deutsch) Maurer near Strasbourg, Alsace-Lorraine.
I have photos copies from two separate churchbooks covering the baptismal records of Keskastel, located in western part of Bas-Rhin department, France, which is a few miles east of Strasbourg, which contain birth and baptismal records for the period 1803 throught 1843. These Churchbook entries contain enough information about the Maurer family in Keskastel, Bas-Rhin, France to prove that the Jacob Maurer as described in paragraph above was born in Keskstel but on one day different being 23 June 1805 and baptized on the 26. However, although the Deutsch family name as mentioned as the wife of Jacob Maurer in the book does not agree with the wife of Jacob Maurer in the church records of Keskastel nor to the U.S. census records of Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Ohio and McKeesport, Allegheny County, PA.
I would love to hear from any known descendants of the above described Jacob Maurer who came from Keskastel, Bas-Rhin France first to Franklin County, Ohio then later to McKeesport, Allegheny County, PA. I have searched years for the descendants of this Jacob Maurer's brother Michael and have just recently made contact and I am in the process of providing some of Reeb ancestry for this particular Maurer family back in time to 1599 in Europe.
