Mary Elizabeth Sauter Maute Grozz Schneider was my Great, Great Grandmother.Elizabeth Maute, b. 9/24/1842 in Tieringen, Germany was her oldest daughter by her first husband, Johann George Maute, b. 10/6/1805 d. 1/5/1855 in Tieringen, Germany.Elizabeth immigrated to the US in 1865, and on 9/6/1866, she married Auguste Joray in Vera Cruz, IN. After her first two husbands died, Mary Elizabeth Sauter Maute Grozz Schneider married my Great Great Grandfather Gottlieb Schneider in 1865, and their only child was my Great Grandfather, Albert.In June, 1869, Mary Elizabeth and Gottlieb and Albert Schneider, who wast just 4 at the time immigrated to Wells Co., IN, along with 2 of Mary Elizabeth's other children, Anna Marie Maute and John Maute, who were younger siblings to Elizabeth Maute Joray.Gottlieb was a farmer in Wells Co. until his death in 1866.
